Sunrise, a day at some of the temples in and around Angkor Wat and finally sunset.

L Angkor Wat took more than 30 years to build in the 12th century.
Reflection

Sun is nearly up...

Sunrise

It was pretty chaotic around the moat with thousands of tourists waiting for the spectacular view. When we did this visit 5 years ago there were only maybe only a few hundred people. This nice group of Korean ladies invited me to share their plastic ground sheet. Not a word of English was spoken until I managed to convey that I was Irish and immediately one of the ladies broke into the song from the film Once!

The moat

The light at sunrise is so good on these stone figures  at the entrance of Angkor Thom

The Bayon

All the faces

Nose to nose.. Well almost!

Ta Prohm although a ruin is truly magnificant.  It was built mid 12th century and discovered by explorers in the mid 19th century.  The jungle has taken over the buildings. It has been left untouched by archaeologists apart from the paths which have been cleared for visitors and the structural strengthening to prevent further deterioration.
The temple now known as Tombraider because many scenes for the film were shot here.

Our helpful guide pointed out the image in this and the next photo... Just below and to the right of center there is a gap in the root...

Looking closely...an image which the root has allowed to peek through!
