Our visit to Mondul 3 Village, Siem Reap

The village is located in one of the poorest slum areas of Siem Reap.  Over 500 families live here made up of former army personnel, karaoke/sex workers and displaced men, women and children.  Living conditions are appalling and education and work opportunities are scarce.  NHC provides education to a large number of children and supports others through higher education even offering scholarships to enable 30 students and staff to attend university.

The laundry.

Many homes have shrines by the entrance.

A water pump shared by many families.

A surprisingly clean hair salon.

A water filter provided by NHC.

A typical village home. Most homes are built on stilts to help deal with the flooding during the rainy season.

The men and boys are taught wood turning skills on this equipment which has been donated to the workshop.

Wood working tools.

Recycled Palm wood.

The beautiful souvenirs which are sold in the charity's shops and market stalls.
