This temple was built in the 12th century and is surrounded by a moat almost a kilometre square most of which is dried up now. The temple had been consumed by jungle but much of it has been now been cleared. Several towers have completely collapsed and there are enormous piles of sandstone rocks, vines and tunnels to be negotiated as you make your way around the site. A wooden walkway helps in parts. This was constructed to allow filming of the film Two Brothers (2004) set in Indochina.
The walkway which helps the negotiation of the challenging route around the site.
This delightful soldier along with a couple of comrades came to my aid as I got a little lost and struggled over the boulders. We've all heard of a Hundred Thousand Welcomes.. Well this was a case of a Hundred Thousand Thank Yous!!! I was beyond appreciative and happy to pose when they asked for a photo.
This is not a chance to admire my pedicure more an admission of wearing the most inappropriate footwear for the trip. That won't happen again!
