The Delights Of Luang Prabang

Wat Xiengthong.

Setting up the night market.

The local people work so hard to make so little.  Each evening at sunset vans, motorcycles, Tuk Tuks and handcarts are unloaded as people set out their stalls in the night market which runs for a couple of kilometres along the Main Street of the town.  It's very comfortable to walk through as it's a pedestrian zone at night.  The locals are so pleasant and don't hassle at all and inevitably will "make you a good price".

This afternoon we found the Luang Prabang branch of Friends restaurant.  Having enjoyed their food in  both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap I had no hesitation to book a table for tonight. The service and food were excellent.  The staff wearing "student" t-shirts are all going through a two year training programme.

While chatting to a guy wearing a "teacher" t-shirt we heard that our waiter had been living on the streets until only two weeks ago.  He was so pleasant, very nervous but did a great job and looked so so pleased with himself.  He no doubt appreciates this great opportunity.

After our elephant experience what could be nicer than a foot massage?  Bliss.

Happy to be installed in her room after a longer than expected journey via Paxse International Airport. No, we hadn't heard of it before either.

Happy to be installed in her net!   Hopefully mossie proof.

Our guesthouse.  Singharat, run by the delightful Nyugen family from Vietnam.
